Software Developer

Job Description
The Software Developer is primarily responsible for working with business stakeholders and the Product Architect in developing the business solution that matches the business requirements for new products and enhancements.

Responsibilities
  • Promotes a positive and productive relationship with internal team members and customers.
  • Supports the OWIT Global organizational goals of growth and profitability and company policy.
  • Works with Insurance Solutions Specialists on understanding and developing specifications, prototypes and solutions.
  • Works with Insurance Solutions Specialists with design and writes the code to implement the solution, utilities and supporting products.
  • Works with the Product Architect and other team members in product integration, both functionally and technically identify needed features and delivery options.
  • Configures product to meet business objectives and solve business related needs.
  • Works with Solution Architect and customers on the design and/or creation of integration interfaces.
  • Responds to inquiries regarding software, procedures, and databases.
  • Researches and resolves user application problems, troubleshoots and recommends changes.
  • Provides excellent customer support and communication.
  • Assists in the sales support cycle, product demonstrations and training (when needed)
  • Develops and maintains relationships with all teams.
Requirements
  • Minimum of five (5) years software development experience.
  • Experience in P&C Insurance.
  • Excellent analytical and technical skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and teaming skills.
  • Ability to work with a global team.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experienced in developing web applications and micro services (ASP.Net Core Web API and WCF) using Microsoft C# in Visual Studio 2017, DHTML/JavaScript/AJAX/HTTP/SSL and other web technologies.
  • Experience in interfacing with databases and XML/JSON interfaces.
  • Exposure to automated builds and continuous integration process.
  • Exposure to cloud platforms like AWS or similar.
  • Degree from 4-year college or university.

Insurance Solutions Analyst
Hartford, CT area

Job Description
The Insurance Solutions Analyst is responsible for providing insurance business knowledge and expertise to help guide and lead customer engagements as well as in support of OWIT product development. The Insurance Solutions Analyst works with customers and internal OWIT stakeholders to develop business requirements and design well-conceived solutions using OWIT’s microservices tools. The Insurance Solutions Analyst will also build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to help drive the success of our customer and their project implementations. As a member of a cross-functional team, all work should be done with the highest level of integrity in a collaborative approach, to deliver the highest quality and innovative products and services for OWIT’s customers.

The Insurance Solutions Analyst works with the Solutions Architect, Project Manager, and the Customer Engagement Officer in helping to develop and successfully achieve project budget forecasts, profit margins, and customer successes that promotes additional business.

Responsibilities
  • Identify and translate customer business needs into clearly defined business requirements and create documentation inclusive of process flows, data flows, wireframes, etc. to facilitate requirements validation.
  • Design and configure User Experience, Rating, Rules, Document and/or Bordereau insurance solutions using OWIT’s proprietary microservices toolset to fulfill customer requirements.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to finalize project plans and estimates.
  • Actively participate/contribute in brainstorming/working sessions with a focus on continuous improvement and innovation.
  • Collaborate with development and testing teams to provide subject matter expertise.
  • Review and validate test plans.
  • Provide business analysis support to OWIT’s offshore Support team for US based clients.

Requirements

Project Manager
Hartford, CT area

Job Description
The Project Manager works closely with OWIT customers and internal stakeholders to lead projects according to industry and project management discipline standards and best practices to achieve on-time, on-budget delivery for OWIT Global customer implementations. This role is also responsible for risk mitigation that may entail escalating major issues and deviations from plan, risk management, driving immediate problem solving and aggressively progressing key milestones and deliverables.

Responsibilities
  • Manages all aspects of small-to-mid-sized projects. Leads project planning efforts to help determine project scope, staffing needs, scheduling, identify risks and issues and develops contingency plans to manage.
  • Facilitates the project kick-off with project team members and appropriate stakeholders.
  • Manages the day-to-day details of the project including coordinating with project team members and resource managers as appropriate, managing the project plan, schedule, resources, task assignments, scope, budget, risks, and associated management and mitigation thereof.
  • Leads the effort in creative approaches to problem solving and quality deliverables supporting business needs.
  • Reports schedule, budget, and delivery details to project stakeholders.
  • Facilitates project meetings focused on status reporting, problem resolution, feedback, fostering open communication within the team on project planning and execution.
  • Maintains project management deliverables including the project plan, project schedule, status reports, meeting minutes, issue logs and any other documentation related to the management and administration of the project.
  • Coordinates and facilitates post project/milestone reviews.
  • Works with the Customer Engagement Officer to develop and implement a sound, predictable, and repeatable project management discipline, practice, and standards.
Requirements
  • Minimum BS or BA.
  • PMI Certification highly desirable.
  • Candidate experience should be in Software Services and/or Support.
  • At least 3-5+ years of experience in managing technical projects preferably within the insurance industry.
  • Strong presentation skills with emphasis on attention to detail.
  • Mastery of MS Project or equivalent.
  • Superior verbal, written and organizational skill sets.
  • Excellent customer service.
  • Takes ownership and can execute using minimal direction and procedures.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Team-oriented.
  • Insurance business knowledge highly desired.
